/ecm diskurs 27: ON EST ENSEMBLE ET ÇA VA WAKA

Samstag, 8. April 2016, 19 Uhr
Universität für angewandte Kunst Wien, Oskar Kokoschka-Platz 2, 1010 Wien

Lecture: Bonaventure Soh Bejeng Ndikung, Art Director of the art space SAVVY Contemporary Berlin and Curator at Large of documenta 14
Moderation: Nora Sternfeld, Professor for Curating and Mediating Art, Aalto University Helsinki and Co-Director /ecm, Wien

Thinking of exhibition making as an act of assembly of notions, peoples and histories? Ça va waka in Cameroonian pidgin and Franglais means ‚all will be good’ and from that same context, a popular phrase upon farewell is "on est ensemble" or "we are together" – an almost frantic invocation and incantation of an eminent (re-) assembly. This lecture addresses the question of space and assembly in a world of movement. Thirdspace – the space in flux – is a continually and rapidly changing ‘lived/social space’ of experientiality, that goes beyond its mere physicality and conceptualisation as a space. And what does this mean for curatorial spaces and assemblies?
